About Us and My Story!

Hello and Greetings from Mike's Bees and Honey! I am Michael and I have been in this business since age 13! My grandfather kept a large number of bees in NW. Ohio and Irish Hills area in Michigan. he got me interested in Bees and beekeeping at age 9 and at age 13 i had my first and own colony, and thanks to my parents going along with it,  I have been in business at age 13!  Since then, and Now 53 years later, I am still in the beekeeping business, I have an education  in Biology and Professional Photography and Genetics Research was my specialty and my other major Photography,  allowed me to prove my research as well. I was a former and current deputy Bee Inspector for the State of Ohio,  under Gordon Rudloff and Russell Lamp, both good teachers and people that taught me more as well in learning and diagnosing bee diseases etc.  I am Currently the Hancock County Bee Inspector under State Apiarist Barbara Bloetscher with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.  Presently i am a stage 4 NHL Follicular Lymphoma survivor after 31 chemotherapy treatments and all of the horrible side effects that go with chemotherapy and now am back to serve my long time clients,   and making new new ones as well as bee inspection for the State of Ohio O.D.A. I have 2 long time friends that are   my business partners and business employees,  Donna Girdler, who sadly just suddenly died of a ruptured brain aneurysm 3/24/2023 and will be missed by me and my clients as she was always happy to help  Her brother Mike now ,has family matters to contend with and will be missed also!  I look forward to this year and following years being  better years,  Also, with COVID-19 finally under control and me, being cancer free finally after 4.5 years of 31 treatments!
